Uzunov, an artist who lived from 1899 to 1986, was best known for the span of genres and fields that his creations took – book illustrations, paintings, graphics, scenography, book making, costume design and murals, this latter including in the church Sveti Yoan Predcheta and the foyer of Hotel Kazanluk in his hometown of Kazanluk, and in the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, the National Opera, the National Palace of Culture (NDK) and the Palace of Justice in Sofia. The copper coin (999/1000), designed by Petar Stoikov, has a face vale of two leva. It weighs 16.40g, has a smooth edge, a semi-matte finish and a diameter of 34.20mm. Eight thousand such coins are being minted. It has a selling price of 18 leva. Its face side has an image of the emblem of Bulgarian National Bank with the year 1879; around the rim will be written "БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА" (Bulgarian National Bank), the face value of 2 leva (2 лева) and the year of minting, 2009. The reverse side will have an image of Uzunov with words "110 години от рождението на Дечко Узунов" (110 years since the birth of Dechko Uzunov) around the rim.
