The obverse of the coin a gilded medallion depicts the Golden Church in Veliki Preslav, lion and griffin. Below are the nominal value "10 EURO" and the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank with the year "1879" on the tape. The circumference reads "BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK" and the year of issue "2014".
Reverse:
On the reverse side of the coin, separated by a grain-like ring is an image of Tsar Simeon the Great - detail of stained glass in the BNB. The circumference on the outer ring reads "MEDIEVAL BULGARIAN ruler" and "Tsar Simeon Veliki".
