How we calculate it
The score starts from the mintage on a logarithmic scale (500 coins or fewer = 10, ten million = 1). Coins of the Principality and the Kingdom that circulated get extra points, because much of that silver and gold was melted down and many coins were lost in the wars and withdrawn in 1952. Modern commemorative coins lose a point, since almost all of them survive in collections. Finally we look at how often the coin is offered on Balkan Auction: frequent offers lower the score.

Obverse
The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the year of issue ‘1998’ below. In circumference: ‘РЕПУБЛИКА БЪЛГАРИЯ’ (Republic of Bulgaria), the number ‘10 000’ and the word ‘ЛЕВА’ (levs).
Reverse
The reverse of the coin depicts the figure of a rebel carrying the Samara flag – a detail of Yaroslav Veshin’s picture ‘The Samara Flag’ (1911). To the left, on two lines, are the years ‘1878’ and ‘1998’. The composition is encircled by the inscription ‘120 ГОДИНИ ОТ ОСВОБОЖДЕНИЕТО НА БЪЛГАРИЯ ОТ ОСМАНСКО РОБСТВО’ (120 Years of Bulgaria’s Liberation from Ottoman Rule).
