How we calculate it
The score starts from the mintage on a logarithmic scale (500 coins or fewer = 10, ten million = 1). Coins of the Principality and the Kingdom that circulated get extra points, because much of that silver and gold was melted down and many coins were lost in the wars and withdrawn in 1952. Modern commemorative coins lose a point, since almost all of them survive in collections. Finally we look at how often the coin is offered on Balkan Auction: frequent offers lower the score.

Obverse
The obverse of the coin features the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank with the year ‘1879’, written on the ribbon. In circumference in the outer circle is the wording ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK), the year of issue ‘2008’ and the nominal value of the coin ‘10 ЛЕВА’ (10 LEVS).
Reverse
The reverse of the coin features a pattern from a replica of a BGN 20 and BGN 100 coin, issue 1912, commemorating the Proclamation of Bulgaria’s Independence. In circumference in the outer circle there is the wording ‘100 ГОДИНИ НЕЗАВИСИМОСТ НА БЪЛГАРИЯ’ (100 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE OF BULGARIA) and the date ‘22 СЕПТЕМВРИ 1908’ (22 SEPTEMBER 1908) below.
