Keep the coin as issued
Collector coins hold their value best in the condition they were sold in: in the original capsule, with any box and leaflet or certificate supplied with them. Avoid touching the surfaces, especially on proof coins.
Check before you buy
Compare the coin with its catalogue page: year, face value, metal, weight and diameter, and the official mintage. Coins struck in precious metal carry the fineness on the coin. If a certificate is offered, its details should match the coin exactly.
When in doubt, buy from the BNB’s cash desks for new issues, or from established dealers, and ask for a receipt.
Reproductions
Bulgarian law prohibits the unlawful reproduction of the country’s currency. Report suspected counterfeits to the Bulgarian National Bank.
